On 26 November 2024, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission (SSTC) announced that byterna was selected by SSTC's annual research funding of "The Science and Technology Innovation Program on Cell and Gene Therapy". Byterna will receive ~2M RMB funding from The SSTC to support its innovative research in circular RNA AI design and chemical modification technology, which are general technological bottlenecks of developing circRNA therapeutics.

Byterna will use this grant funding to accelerate the translational research on AI sequence design and site-specific modification technology to improve its proprietary circRNA R&D platform.
